Andrew Joseph Yelenak

A freelance illustrator since 1981, Yelenak has worked for a wide variety of clients, including Golf Digest Magazine, Spalding Sports Worldwide, General Dynamics, Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and The Hartford Insurance Company.

His paintings have been exhibited at the Society of Illustrators in New York and at the Beckett Sports Art Gallery in Dallas.  His "A Boston Legacy" print was part of the Boston Athletic Association's "The Race Through History" exhibit for the 100th Boston Marathon.

In 2001 Yelenak had a solo exhibition at the Old State House in Hartford, Connecticut called "The Art Of Sports" from October 4th through November 3rd.

He was the artist for the official 1997, 1998, 2003 & 2004 Boston Marathon Lithographs, the 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 & 2003 NYC Marathon Posters and he produced the poster for the 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 & 2002 Hartford Marathons.

His work also appears on the cover of the March/April 2002 and March/April 2003 issues of Marathon & Beyond Magazine, on the 2001 Boilermaker 15K race poster as well as in the Quotable Runner Training Log.

Recent projects include creating the painting for the official poster for the 25th Anniversary 2002 Boilermaker 15K Road Race and the artwork for the Distance Running Hall Of Fame's 2002 Induction and the painting for the 2003 Distance Running Hall of Fame Weekend as well as a portrait of Arthur Lydiard and Peter Snell for Marathon & Beyond Magazine.

In 2006 Yelenak painted the cover for "Boston Marathon & Beyond" a special edition commemorative magazine for 110th running of the Boston Marathon, and the cover for "Grandma's Marathon & Beyond" a special issue for the Grandma's Marathon in Duluth, Minnesota. The poster for the 2006 Distance Running Hall of Fame Induction will be completed by Andy in June.

Yelenak's work appeared on the cover of the program for the 100th Yale-Harvard football game, and more recently, on covers of Beckett's sports publications. His painting of Michael Jordan was selected as a winner in the 1997 Beckett Sports Art Gallery National Contest.

An avid runner since 1974, he has personal bests of: 1 mile - 4:47, 5K - 17:15, 20K - 1:14:30,
Marathon - 3:13:40.
